Operations Manager

Meet Erin Vockerodt

At Tate, Erin is the behind-the-scenes powerhouse who keeps the wheels turning and the chaos under control. As our go-to Operations Manager, she’s the one making sure events happen, resources appear like magic, and everything runs like clockwork — all with a big smile and a “let’s do this” attitude.

With a Diploma in Tourism and Tour Operations and over two decades of high-energy experience (including a stint in London’s wild restaurant scene!), Erin knows how to manage people, pressure, and a hundred moving parts — and still make it look easy.

She also happens to hold a Silwood Cordon Bleu Diploma and leads Tate’s popular cooking classes, where kids get hands-on with food, fun, and flavour. Whether she’s hosting fundraisers, fixing the unfixable, or firing up the ovens, Erin brings heart, humour, and a whole lot of hustle to school life.

Finance Manager

Financial & HR

Meet Nika Swanepoel

– the warm heart behind Tate’s finance desk and the gentle force keeping school fees on track. With a BCom background and over 15 years in admin (six of those in finance), she brings serious know-how with a smile. Her journey began as an autism tutor and au pair, where she spent 13+ years supporting wonderfully unique kids — and that care still shines through in everything she does.

Far from her biological family, Nika’s found a true home at Tate, where connection and community mean the world. You’ll often find her with Pixel, her tiny four-legged sidekick, trotting along beside her and winning hearts.

Numbers may be her job, but people are her passion. As Nika likes to say, “I am what I am” — and honestly, we wouldn’t have her any other way.

Meet Bernard Morris

– veteran teacher, timetable genius, and the man who knows every student and parent by name.

Bernard finished matric in 1982 and earned his Higher Diploma in Education (Commerce) at CPUT in 1986. He started teaching in 1987, diving straight into matric classes and proving he was made for the challenge.

He went on to complete a B.Ed Honours in 1993 and, just recently, a Master’s in Education (Leadership and Management) summa cum laude — showing lifelong learning is truly his passion.

Since joining Tate International in 2020, Bernard teaches Accounting, Business Studies, and Tourism from Grade 7 to AS level. As Senior Teacher and Exam Coordinator, he masterfully manages timetables and cover plans, all while being a steady, welcoming presence as Pastoral Head.

Bernard calls Tate his family and continues to inspire every day with his dedication and warmth

Meet Carine Geldenhuys

– fitness lover turned educator and the go-to for sports, structure, and organisation at Tate.

Starting with a passion for movement and health, Carine studied at ETA before discovering her true love: working with kids. She joined Tate as Aftercare Manager, then quickly took on roles as PE Teacher and Assistant Teacher across Tate World and Tate International.

Now, Carine is the Sports and Extra-Mural Coordinator while teaching Afrikaans (Grade 4) and English and Geography (Grade 7) — plus running after-school sports for both Primary and High School.

She’s currently studying for her Bachelor of Education (BEd), always leveling up her teaching game. When not working, you’ll find her hiking or colour-coding — because yes, she’s a bit of an organisation nerd!

Carine loves being part of the Tate family and treasures watching her students grow and thrive every day.

At Tate International School, she brings creativity, care, and calm to the Grade 1 and 2 classrooms, creating a space where curiosity grows and every milestone is celebrated.

Dané is also part of the Curriculum Development Team, helping craft meaningful learning experiences across the school. She’s all about meeting each child where they are and guiding their growth with patience and heart.

When she’s not in the classroom, you’ll likely find her curled up with a good book or recharging in the great outdoors. Dané loves being part of the Tate family, where every child and every teacher matters.

Meet Jessie Koegelenberg

– energetic educator, globe-trotter, and proud dog mom! Jessie has obtained her Bachelor of Education from UNISA and is also a qualified TEFL teacher with teaching experience in China, Japan, online, and across South African schools. Her global journey has shaped a flexible, inclusive approach that meets learners wherever they are.

At Tate International School, Jessie brings her enthusiasm into every corner of the classroom. She is the tutor teacher for Grade 8, sparks curiosity as the Grade 6 Science teacher, and dives into the wonders of Biology, Physical Sciences, and Chemistry with her Grade 7–9 learners. You’ll also find her boosting energy and confidence as the P.E. teacher for Grades 3 and 7.

Outside of school, Jessie’s happiest exploring the outdoors with her dogs or spending time with animals of all kinds.

She loves being part of the warm, vibrant Tate community and is excited to keep learning and growing right alongside her students.

Meet Mariëtte Horne

– artist, language lover, and storyteller with a heart full of passion and a paintbrush never far from reach.

Mariëtte began her journey in Journalism at the University of the Free State, but quickly found her true calling in the classroom. Since 1979, she’s been sharing her love of Afrikaans, art, and learning with students across South Africa.

She’s held roles in education, media, and even co-ran an architectural studio, all while following her creative instincts — from studying Monet in Paris to exploring Tintoretto’s works in Venice.

Mariëtte joined Tate International in 2020, where she now teaches Afrikaans and Art with a signature blend of warmth, colour, and care.

She’s a proud horse lover, a forever student, and deeply believes that every child deserves an inspired education — and a teacher who never stops learning herself.

Meet Timothy Chimedzi

– number cruncher, deep thinker, and all-around learning enthusiast. With over 10 years in education, he brings experience, energy, and a real passion for unlocking student potential. He holds a Master’s in Finance and Investments, and is currently juggling a BSc in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science and a PhD in Finance— because why stop at one degree?

At Tate International, Timothy teaches Mathematics and Physics at IGCSE and AS Level, where he turns complex concepts into lightbulb moments. His goal? To spark curiosity, build confidence, and help students see beyond the formulas.

Outside of class, Timothy is a lifelong learner who loves coding, reading, and a good game of football. He believes every child has their own kind of brilliance — and he’s here to help them find it.

He’s proud to be part of the Tate family, where learning is bold, personal, and full of possibility.

Sade Potgieter Tate International

Meet Sadé Kapp Potgieter

– our dedicated Grade 6 teacher and Grades 7–8 Mathematics teacher.

Sadé holds a Financial Degree, a BEd in Intermediate and Senior Phase, and a TEFL
diploma. With twelve years of teaching experience across a variety of schools, she brings depth, passion, and professionalism to her classroom.

A devoted animal lover, Sade volunteers at local shelters and shares her home with four energetic dogs who keep her days bright and lively.

Sport, fitness, and the outdoors are also big parts of her life. She has earned both Western Province and South African colours and enjoys dancing, training, hiking, and exploring nature whenever she can.

Known for her positivity and zest for life, Sadé brings warmth, energy, and a sense of
adventure to the Tate community — and to every learner she teaches.

Meet Tamarin Rose Philpott

– passionate educator, child advocate, and proud Grade 5 teacher at Tate International School.

With a BA in Social Work from UCT and an Honours in Theology from the University of Pretoria (with a focus on vulnerable children), Tamarin brings a deep understanding of emotional wellness and child development to her teaching. She’s also SACE-registered, bringing both care and compliance to the classroom.

Before joining Tate in 2021, she worked as a guidance counsellor at Edgemead Primary and other schools, shaping her warm, empathetic teaching style. At Tate, she’s taught Grade 4, contributed to curriculum design, and now leads Grade 5 with heart and purpose.

Tamarin is all about creating a space where kids feel safe, seen, and inspired to grow. Outside of school, she’s into crime series, yoga, and keeping life balanced — just like she does in the classroom.

Meet Thomson Chilomo

– tech whiz, history lover, and all-round classroom favourite at Tate International School.

Thomson teaches IGCSE Computer Science and History, combining storytelling with problem-solving to keep lessons engaging and relevant. From decoding algorithms to unpacking revolutions, he’s all about turning tricky concepts into lightbulb moments.

Before joining Tate, Thomson worked as a Cybersecurity Lecturer at Eduvos and an IT Trainer at CTU Training Solutions, giving him hands-on experience and a strong, student-focused approach. He’s currently studying for his MSc in Cybersecurity, so yes — topics like ethical hacking and digital forensics might pop up in class (and the students love it).

Outside the classroom, Thomson’s often found sketching, exploring historic spots, or tinkering with code, all part of his passion for lifelong learning.

At Tate, he’s known for being approachable, curious, and deeply committed to helping students grow — one clever question at a time.

Meet Marike Smuts

– class assistant, admin multitasker, LMS whiz, and all-around nature-loving, child-championing wonder woman.

Marike has been part of both Tate World and Tate International since 2022, officially wearing multiple hats (and rocking every single one). She’s a Class Assistant, Tate World Administrator, and Learning Management System Operator — and yes, she built online lessons all the way back in 2020 like a total behind-the-scenes hero.
But Marike’s magic goes far beyond the screen. Her day-to-day includes gardening, Arts & Culture, PE, and after-care, bringing calm, creativity, and connection to every corner of the school.

She’s got a heart full of empathy, a deep love for children and animals, and an energy that’s equal parts nurturing and down-to-earth. Whether she’s planting seeds (literal or metaphorical), leading an art session, or simply lending a listening ear, Marike’s presence is always one of warmth and patience.

Being part of the Tate family is a true joy for her — a place where she gets to watch young minds grow, express themselves, and bloom in the most creative ways.

Meet Christina Mokwena

– the heart and soul behind the calm and care in our school!

More than just a custodian, she’s like a mother to everyone in the halls, always watching out for the little things that make a big difference. Whether it’s tidying up, offering a comforting word, or making sure every corner feels safe and welcoming, Christina’s gentle presence is a steadying force for all of us.

No mess is too messy, no problem too small — she’s always there with a warm smile and an open heart. We’re truly lucky to have her nurturing spirit keeping our school feeling like a home.

Meet Veronica September

– the quiet hero of our hallways and classrooms!

Whether it’s a spill in the science lab, a missing mop, or a mysterious squeaky door, she’s there when we need her — often before we’ve even asked. Always ready to lend a hand (or a broom), she keeps our school running smoothly with a smile and a can-do attitude.

No task is too big, no corner too dusty. We’re lucky to have her as part of the team — because every school needs someone who makes the behind-the-scenes magic happen!
